At our March 2024 meeting, the Club’s President Darrell Wise inducted new member Graham Pearce.  Graham was invited by member Chris Barber to be part of our club.  Welcome Graham to our Club.

In March 2024 our Club held its Annual General MeetingMaurie Lateu was elected President along with a management committee team for 2024-25. Congratulations Maurie and his team.

Recently, the Club’s activity outing to Parliament House in 2023 was published in the Probus South Pacific magazine.  Below is a link to that article.

A Fascinating Journey

In February 2024 the Club welcomed a new member Eric Collyer.  Eric was invited by member Jonathan Roberts to join the club.  Here is Eric (in the middle) being inducted by Darrell Wise our President, with Jonathan on the left.

Also at our February meeting, our quest speaker Rod Barton detailed his life as a spy for Australia and his collaborative work with British intelligence agencies and the United Nations.  Rod became a specialist in nuclear and biochemical weapons and in the gathering and analysis of data coming in daily from the Organisation’s many sources.  A fascinating and informed talk about the life of a spy.

In January 2024 the Club’s guest speaker was Lynda Wedding from the Onkaparing Council, who spoke about the “War on Waste”.  We certainly earned a lot more on how to recycle waste.  Now we need to put it into practice.  Thanks Lynda.

The Club celebrated its 40th Birthday at the December 2023 meeting.  The Flagstaff Hill Rotary President Meredith Roach presented Darrell Wise the Club’s President with a 40th Anniversary PSPL Certificate.  A special 40th birthday cake and treats were shared with members and guests at morning tea.  The birthday cake was cut by life member Ern Dunning and our newest member Peter Dorsman.

As part of the 40th birthday celebrations, the Club was entertained by John, Steve and Lynn with songs from the 60s and 70s. A memorable occasion for the club and its members.

A photo of all presidents who are currently members was taken as a historical record for the 40th birthday and as part of the club’s tradition when the club celebrates milestone birthdays.

On 12 December 2023 the Club celebrated Christmas with a special luncheon at the Woodcroft Tavern.  A good time was had by all.
